Low Power 6.5Gbps Transceivers
The eASIC Nextreme-2T NEW ASIC family features up to 32 Multi-Gigabit IO (MGIO) that support data rates up to 6.5 Gbps. The MGIO are configurable to support protocols including PCI Express, Common Packet Radio Interface (CPRI), XAUI, Serial Rapid IO, Gigabit Ethernet and many more. The SERDES transceivers are based on 45-nm technology and include a number of features that ensure excellent jitter performance combined with superior signal integrity for both backplane and chip-to-chip applications.
Key transceiver features
The multi-gigabit and multi-protocol transceivers have the following key features:
- Data rates from 1.25 to 6.5Gbps throughput
- Low power consumption (120mW PMA @ 6.144 Gbps)
- Full duplex
- Rx equalization
- Tx pre-emphasis
- Channel bonding
- Beaconing (out of band signaling) support
- Individual transmitter and receiver channel power down for power reduction when not used
- Flexible PCS layer with ability to add custom eASIC Nextreme-2 logic to support wide range of standards
- PIPE interface connects directly to PCI Express Gen1 (2.5 Gbps) and Gen2 (5.0 Gbps) intellectual property (IP)
Protocol Support
Transceiver-based devices are now commonly used to meet the ever increasing data bandwidth requirements of telecommunications, networking, storage, video and computing applications with a number of industry standard protocols emerging to support these requirements.
The eASIC Nextreme-2T has been specifically designed to support the widest possible range of protocol standards across multiple data rates, while offering excellent signal integrity and achieving the lowest power consumption.
